Lent 2024

One focus for Lent 2024 will be “Words That Last Forever,” based on the seven final phrases of Jesus, remembered and recited throughout the ages.  We may find that these last words have a lasting impact, even now, for us.

Wednesday, Feb. 14        Ash Wednesday                      “Forgive”

Wednesday, Feb. 21        Midweek Dinner Church          “Paradise”

Wednesday, Feb. 28       Midweek Dinner Church          “Behold”

Wednesday, March 6      Midweek Dinner Church          “Forsaken”

Wednesday, March 13     Midweek Dinner Church          “Thirst”

Wednesday, March 20    Midweek Dinner Church          “Finished”

The “Words That Last Forever” series continues through Holy Week and Easter Sunday:

Thursday, March 28         Maundy Thursday           “For You”

Friday, March 29              Good Friday                    “Hands”

Sunday, March 31             Easter Sunday                 “Alleluia!”

The first readings during Lent tell us of five covenants God makes with God’s people, returning us to the foundations of baptismal life. These stories remind us of the new heart and breath of life that we have been given in baptism:

Sunday, Feb. 18               Covenant         Noah

Sunday, Feb. 25              Covenant         Abraham and Sarah

Sunday, March 3             Covenant         The Ten Commandments

Sunday, March 10           Covenant         The Bronze Serpent

Sunday, March 17           Covenant         A New Covenant
